Rape Honey
Rape honey starts blooming in April. The rape plant is an oleaginous plant, a member of the mustard family, with a vast spreading area. The honeybees highly appreciate this plant, gathering from it important quantities of pollen and nectar. Rapeseed is grown for the production of animal feed, vegetable oil for human consumption and Biodiesel. Rape crop growing is the basis for apiculture in northern Germany.Rape honey is typical northern German specialty and is obtained in May. Its colour is transparent to pale yellow.
